Among geopolitics no consensus as to what is the most important spatial form. First geopolitics (especially H.Makinder) believed that the decisive question in world domination is the control over Eurasia. Hence the famous maxim - "who controls Eurasia controls the world." Some more recent geopolitical school several revised this position, saying that Eurasia as the "heartland" to a great extent depends on the "coastal zone", with no control over which it is planetary helpless. But in both cases, it is recognizing the importance of the battle for Eurasia and for control of its coastal zone.
