In December 1801 the First Consul of the French Republic, Napoleon Bonaparte appointed Monseya inspector general of the gendarmerie. among the first 14 commanders made Monseya marshals in France (19 May 1804) With the proclamation of the French Empire and the restoration of the abolished in 1793. Jacobin Convent rank of Marshal Napoleon I. The list of award of the title Monseya name was third (after Berthier and Murat). Military Merit Monseya during the Revolutionary War were highly appreciated by Napoleon. In 1803, the Emperor awarded him the Legion of Honor in 1804 - Commander's Cross of the Order, and in February 1805 received the highest award Moncey Napoleonic France - Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour. At the end of 1807 Napoleon instructs Mons command of the troops guarding the coast of France (the supervisory body the ocean), and in 1808 bestow the title of Duke of Conegliano. Since the beginning of 1808 Moncey heads the supervisory body of the Western Pyrenees. This theater was well acquainted Marshal ever since the Revolutionary War.
